World's Worst Serial Killers - Part III

"In my lifetime I have murdered 21 human beings, I have committed thousands of burglaries, robberies, larcenies, arsons and, last but not least, I have committed sodomy on more than 1,000 male human beings. For all these things I am not in the least bit sorry."--Carl Panzram, serial killer

Serial killers are known for having no remorse about their crimes.  Psychopaths that they are, they see other people as just inanimate objects to be done with in any manner that suits them.  For the most part, the serial killer doesn't kill out of jealousy, greed or even revenge.  It is something they do and give as much thought to as you would to washing your clothes.  Serial killers kill because they are addicted to killing just as someone is addicted to drugs and/or alcohol.   The serial killer is born this way according to most medical professionals.  There is no hope of ever reforming them simply because they don't want to be reformed and see nothing wrong with murdering people.  Some may say serial killers kill out of power.  There may be some or maybe even a lot of truth to this statement as John Wayne Gacy himself expressed the power trip he had after killing young boys.  He obviously derived sexual pleasure from his victims as well as the power trip he had.  But, no serial killer encapsulates both sexual and power trips better than Ted Bundy.

Bundy raped and murdered a number of young women across the United States between 1974 and 1978. After over a decade of vigorous denials, Bundy eventually confessed to 30 murders, although the actual total of victims remains unknown. Typically, Bundy would rape then murder his victims by bludgeoning, and sometimes by strangulation. He also engaged in necrophilia.  Ted Bundy was so bold, he would even approach his victims in broad daylight.  It was thought this gave him a greater thrill than the relative safety of nighttime.  Bundy was known for his extremely high intellect.  He had it down to a science as to how to gain the trust of a potential victim.  Sometimes, he would feign injury, wearing his arm in a sling or wearing a fake cast, as in the murders of Hawkins, Rancourt, Ott, Naslund, and Cunningham. At other times Bundy would impersonate an authority figure; he pretended to be a policeman when approaching Carol DaRonch.

Once Ted Bundy would lure a woman to his car, he would incapacitate them by hitting them in the head with a crowbar.  In fact, except for Kimberly Leach, every victim showed signs of blunt force trauma to the skull.  Ted Bundy later admitted to decapitating at least a dozen of his victims.  He would take the heads and keep them as trophies in his home.  He stated that he would lie with them for hours, applying makeup to their corpses and having sex with their decomposing bodies until putrefaction forced him to abandon the remains. He was one sick, twisted individual.  When Bundy went to trial, he decided to represent himself.  He had all the makings of being an outstanding attorney.  But, as the judge indicated, he went in another direction.  “It is ordered that you be put to death by a current of electricity, that current be passed through your body until you are dead. Take care of yourself, young man. I say that to you sincerely; take care of yourself, please. It is an utter tragedy for this court to see such a total waste of humanity as I’ve experienced in this courtroom. You’re an intelligent young man. You’d have made a good lawyer, and I would have loved to have you practice in front of me, but you went another way, partner. Take care of yourself. I don’t feel any animosity toward you. I want you to know that. Once again, take care of yourself.”  I personally question any judge not having "any animosity" toward a man who was just convicted of murdering at least 12 women.

Bundy was executed in the Electric Chair at 7:06 a.m. on January 24, 1989. His last words were “I’d like you to give my love to my family and friends.”

“We serial killers are your sons, we are your husbands, we are everywhere. And there will be more of your children dead tomorrow”--Ted Bundy
