Mine That Bird, in one of the monumental upsets in horse racing and, perhaps, sports history, won the Kentucky Derby Saturday. Mine That Bird was a 50-1 shot to win. Mine That Bird started out in dead last and made its way up past the leaders and won by almost 7 lengths! Unbelieveable! I don't really watch horse racing until the Triple Crown starts up. But, even I was shocked by what I saw Saturday. "I Want Revenge" was the Kentucky Derby favorite. Unfortunately, that horse was scratched from the race due to an inflammation to the left front ankle. I Want Revenge was a 3-1 favorite to win the race. However, I don't think even a super horse like I Want Revenge could have overtaken Mine That Bird. What a great race! Is this the year of the underdog? First Susan Boyle and now Mine That Bird? Could be! Enjoy the video.
