It seems I will be forced to go to the “Sex and the City” showing this week. My girlfriend (I feel strange calling her that at my age…I guess we’ll be going steady next) is either refusing to answer the phone, can’t meet me for lunch, blah, blah, blah, real busy right now, blah, blah blah. I get the message. I would rather walk barefoot over hot, burning coals than be caught at this movie. But, it’s either that or a continuation of the above. I never watched it when it was on HBO. Why would I be interested in watching it now? If I’m the only guy at this movie, I’ll give her the same treatment she’s been giving me for the past few days.

It’s not officially summer until the 20th or 21st, I forget which. But, it is really summer like weather outside now. The heat and humidity right now is bad and going to get much worse. One of the things I dread most is mowing the lawn. It’s like a death march with me pushing this blasted lawn mower over grass that will be just as high in about 10 days. My lawn is extremely thick in places and then thick as molasses in others. It’s tough. I have gotten estimates from kids to cut my lawn. None will do it for less than $60.00! I remember back in the day when I mowed lawns for $3.00 a yard…and I supplied the gas! I know, I know, things are far different now. Still, sixty bucks is just too much. I’ll just try to grin and bear it again this year. I’m not paying that much money for some kid who is going to half-way mow the lawn right anyway.

This time last week, I was expecting Hillary to concede defeat. If Sunday’s remarks are taken literally, she’s in it for the long haul. She’s predicting she will have more of the popular vote after tomorrow’s final primaries. So what? Her last best chance to get the nomination ended when the decision was made to seat Michigan and Florida delegates, but at half votes each. What’s the point in continuing? Her dream, her obsession as the first female President of the United States is over. In the end, she has only herself to blame. This campaign revealed what many already knew; Hillary Clinton isn’t fit to be President. Her subtle attempts at bringing racism into play, during the campaign, were disgusting. The RFK assassination remark, and what it truly meant, proved to be over the top. She will stop at nothing to get what she covets so much. Too bad it will be a dream and, in my opinion, it will always be a dream. People have seen the real Hillary now. That is something she tried to cover up during her time as first lady and as senator. But, now she is the Lady Godiva of the American political world. We have seen “everything.” There is nothing left to guess about Hillary. She can enjoy her last term in the Senate as well.

After last week’s decision not to sell my Nissan truck, you would be amazed at the number of people who have called inquiring about it. I called the newspaper and told them to STOP the ad immediately! In one hour, I got eight, that’s right, eight calls about my truck. I got a call after 11PM one night. That was when I decided if I didn’t recognize the number on caller ID, I wasn’t going to answer. This got me in trouble with at least one female who is dragging me to see a movie I do NOT want to see. It wasn’t my fault she called me from her sister’s house!


Finally, my sister had to go into the hospital last week. I went to visit, brought flowers and just did a little chit chat with her in her room. While we were talking, a group of young people led by what appeared to be a doctor came into the room. These were first year pre-med students (as I found out later) who were taking notes as the doctor/instructor talked at length of my sister’s illness (nothing serious, but a common ailment). While he was talking, a nurse came in to draw blood from my sister for lab work. She was almost finished drawing what she needed when one of the young medical students fell over backwards in a dead faint. She was out cold. I thought she had taken ill. But…no, that wasn’t it. Let’s put it this way…this young lady needs to consider a new career field.
